Trust Ted Product Review: Harumio CCS and CHAdeMO Adapter

By Ted Marena

Many Tesla owners have the luxury to charge at home. However, some people are not as fortunate and they have to rely on Tesla Superchargers. Most everyone has used them when they were on a road trip or far from home. In the Bay Area, they are conveniently located and in relatively abundant numbers. Tesla’s Supercharger network is an important factor in helping make their vehicles popular. The breadth of these chargers is not everywhere.

In some parts of North America, Tesla Superchargers are sparsely available. The charging picture is improved if you were to overlay all the third-party Combined Charging System (CCS) DC fast chargers. There are networks available from Blink, Currently, Electrify America, ChargePoint, EVgo, and more.

The challenge is that the Tesla charging connector is not compatible with the CCS connector. Tesla owners may be aware that the company makes a CCS to Tesla adapter that is sold in Korea. The company has been saying that they are going to sell the adapter in North America, but it is not yet for sale here. Well, we recently obtained one of these adapters and tried it at a local CCS DC fast charger. Check out the video here. You might want to invest in one of these if CCS chargers are more convenient where you live.
